Piano and Guest house
Adjacent to an existing property, the lot on which
this house sits edges a lush wetlands, meaning that much
of the site will have to be revegetated in order to
build. The house rides this rip, between cultivated
landscape and marsh. Its vertically structured entry
facade is a thinly dimensioned wood infill structure,
finished to look like furniture but deceptively
monumental at a distance. The post and beam structure
which houses the primary living areas is robust; its
horizontal cladding and windows relate directly to the
wetlands horizon line. Two stairs - one to the piano
studio and the other to the main living space -
structure the entry facade. The grass roof replaces the
now-overgrown lawn.
